Clinical Diagnostics

Antibodies
SSI has monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies against a wide range of different antigens available protein e.g Botulinum toxin, anti diphtheria, pesticides, haptens, pertussis, pneumoccus, ricin ,polio and influenza viruses.

Antisera
Has range of polyvalent antibodies (antisera) for typing of E.coli, pneumococci, Salmonella, and streptococci, Haemophilus, Shigella, and Yersinia.

Has very large strain collection of aproximately 60,000 E.Coli, also Salmonella, Streptococci, and Pneumococci.

Biological Indicators
Manufactures and sells biological indicators for monitering sterilization processes.BI are for both validation and routine monitoring of sterilization processess at hospitals, clinics (including dentists and practitioners) and in industry.

Kits
Statens Serum Institut manufactures and distributes a range of diagnostic kits for laboratory use. We have Biochemical kits such as Minibact N for rapid Neisseria identification compared to conventional methods. Serum Institut manufactures DEC Primer Mix for screening of diarrhoeagenic E.coli for use in multiplex PCR..There are certain Immunological kits of antisera and antibodiesfor identification and typing of pneumococci (Pneumotest and Pneumotest-Latex), group B Streptococci (Strep-B-Latex) and Salmonella (Salmonella Sero-Quick Group kit and Salmonella SeroQuick ID kit).

Standards
SSI has during many years established an extensive range of analytical standards of which many can be purchased from the National Institute for Biological Standards and Control (NIBSC). Selected standards and controls, which are routinely used by SSI in in-house analyses, can be purchased directly from SSI.

Primers and Probe
E.coli strains can be examined for the presence of various virulance genes using PCR or by means of hybridization. Dermatophytes- SSI developed a PCR for identification of dermophytes causing fungal infections in nails.
